App Store and Google Play rejection check for AI-built apps

By Su, offensive security engineer (OSCP, CISSP) · Updated

Apps are rejected from the App Store and Google Play for a short list of known reasons: too little functionality or a templated look (Apple guidelines 4.2 and 4.3), a broken demo login or placeholder content (2.1), no in-app account deletion (5.1.1(v)), a missing privacy manifest in a third-party SDK (error ITMS-91061), and privacy forms that do not match what the app collects. AI builders get an app running quickly but do not read the store review rules. Store-Ready is a pre-submission check that goes through those reasons before you press Submit.

The rejection reasons we check

A 10-minute self-check before you submit

  1. Install the release build on a clean device and sign up as a brand-new user. Does everything work without your developer account?
  2. Test the demo account you give the reviewer from scratch.
  3. Find “delete my account” in the app. Delete a test account and confirm the data is gone.
  4. List every SDK in your build and check each one has a privacy manifest where required.
  5. Compare your two privacy forms against what the app really sends.

What Store-Ready delivers

For $149 per release, done by hand: a walkthrough as a reviewer would do it with a fix list, account-deletion proof, a privacy manifest and SDK check, a privacy label and Data Safety check, and one evidence pack per release that we keep for your next one. Already rejected? Paste the rejection message in your email and we will tell you which of these it maps to.

Not a guarantee. Apple and Google make the final decision. Store-Ready lowers the chance of a known, avoidable rejection; it does not promise approval.

Questions

Does Apple reject AI-generated apps?

Apple does not reject apps for being AI-built as such. Apps are rejected for what the reviewer sees: too little functionality, a templated or copied look, a broken login, missing account deletion or privacy mismatches. AI-built apps can run into these because the tools do not check the store rules.

What is Apple guideline 4.2 minimum functionality?

It lets Apple reject an app that offers little more than a website in a wrapper or a basic template. The fix is real, useful functionality and a clear reason for the app to exist as an app.

How much does Store-Ready cost?

$149 per release, done by hand. You get a reviewer walkthrough, account-deletion proof, privacy manifest and SDK check, privacy label and Data Safety check, and an evidence pack.
